Give By Searching

October 6, 2007

What if Heartbeat International, a non-profit charity that provides pacemakers, defibrillators and implant surgery to patients in developing countries, earned a penny each time you searched the the Internet.  Well ... now they can! is a new search engine powered by Yahoo that donates half of its revenue, about half a penny per search, to the charity of your choice.

I ask that you search at and select "Heartbeat International - Florida (Tampa, FL)" as your charity.  Just 500 members searching four times a day will raise $7,300 a year without anyone donating a dime!

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
