TWO DIFFERENT DOCTORS' OFFICES
Posted by chip on 2009-08-19 14:22

Boy, if this doesn't hit the nail on the head, I don't know what does!

Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same complaint. ? Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement.

The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has a time booked for surgery the following week.

The SECOND sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment, then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, which isn't reviewed for another week
and finally has his surgery scheduled for 6 months from then.
Why the different treatment for the two patients?

The FIRST is a Golden Retriever.
The SECOND is a Senior Citizen.

Next time take me to a vet!

When I took my neighbours cat to the vet I was astonished at the care and consideration it recieved . I just could not believe it. Cats appear more important than humans in the UK

It would appear you sat through the same hospital volunteer customer service training video as I did this week. Thanks for condensing it, beats the half hour video version

Two different countries

Thanks for the story.
It could as well have been two human beings. One in the US and one in a country with socialized health care. Boy am I happy that I am a "Golden Retriever" in the US since I just had a total hip replacement done. It took no time to get it diagnosed and schedule a surgery. Had I still been living in the European country where I am original from, which have a socialized health system, I would have had to wait for up to a year for surgery - "it's not going to kill you".
By the way, my pm gave me no problems during the procedure or after - just kept me going. I was back at work 5 weeks after the surgery.

Slow in the US

I expect the European countries to be faster.

It took over three months to get my ablation approved and two days before the operation I wasn't sure if would happen.

The insurance company kept delaying approval and it wasn't approved until two days before the scheduled date. There was to be a CT scan one day before to map the heart but they changed the location where it would occur several times before the insurance company finally approved the CT scan.

Next time I will bark like a dog and lick someones face to get it done faster.

What insurance company do you have Winelover?

I have Anthem Blue Cross - California - PPO, which makes a huge difference from a HMO.

Two roadside worker's were sitting down on the ground leaning back on thier tractor tyre having lunch, when a stray dog sidled up, sat down in front of them and started licking his genitals.
"Gee I wish I could do that " said the first worker, and his mate replied,
" Well if you give him a piece of your sandwich I recon he would let you".

My uncle was kept alive in a condition when if he was a cat he would have been released from his misery
