Holiday Insurance
Posted by Sheepwash on 2009-08-30 05:03

I had a pacemaker fitted in April this year. Since then I have found it difficult to get a reasonably price annual holiday insurance cover, even though I am probably at less risk to them than I was before I had the p/m.
Can anybody in the uk recommend a good insurance company.

Many Thanks
Pam

We have had this question so many times on this site I see you are in the UK In fact the same vintage as myself.

I seem to remember someone from England found the best Insurance was available from the Post Office, then I think someone said M & S charged a bit more for PM folks.

You could also ask SAGA There are also insurance deals for pensioners. I forget the names but when we were on the continent some years ago with those older than us I am sure our friends told us that the insurance companies that cater for older persons also take into account any health requirements and are not allowed to ban elderly people from cover because of health issueYou can help me too. When you find out let me know as I expect to return to England next year and will need insurance for travel to Europe
Sincere regard from Oz

Thanks for help

Hi Pam, Lotti here. So far I have used M&S. They are not too bad on price and cover me for my PM and valve replacement.

Hope you find a good one.

Hi Pam
Do try M & S I have just taken out insurance with them. When documentation received it said I had declared irregular heartbeat, there was also an extra comment which said " you have answered the question as to wether you have had ablation with No providing this is correct you are covered". Just to be on the safe side I also rang & the girl I spoke to confirmed everything was OK but that she would put on record that I had also rung & confirmed that I had had a pacemaker fitted. My previous travel insurer Saga did not increase premium when I informed them I had a pacemaker fitted in May, again they just classed it as an irregular heartbeat.
Hope you find cover ok, I did it on line as there was a good discount & it was very easy.
Take care
Jenny

Hi Pam,

I have had my Pacemaker since 2004, I have had various annual travel policies, unfortunately the insurance companies seem to change their policy to medical conditions on a regular basis so I have found that I have to research this each year. Last year I was with Columbus Direct they will no longer cover my pacemaker, I have just found another policy with World First Travel Insurance Specialists they can be found at http://www.world-first.co.uk/.

Best regards

Brian
