Hello All: I am a new member as of today 12-4-09, my ICD was implanted on 6-17-09 and it has been an experience. I was diagnosed with CHF and arrythimthmia and believe me its been
shocking to say the least.

My first episode was in May and the next two was in November at work, once when I was sitting at my desk and the next just
after the EMT's got me on the gurney. It can be difficult learning
to live with our devices but, if we didn't have them, we just might
not be here. All I can say if were not for the Lord I wouldn't be
here.

I want to say how great it is having someone you can dialog with that understands what we are going through and how it
affects us when our pacemakers do go off. Thank you for listening an I look forward to talking with you.

Yes, indeed, you are correct when you say it can be difficult learning to live with our devices, but where would we be without them :)

Thank you Pookie for welcoming me. I read your letter
and it touched my heart. People just don't understand
unless they experience or go through have PM's or ICD's. They look at you and say well you look good,
well that my be on the outside - but its the inside that's
giving us the problem.

Take one day at a time and know you are that much
closer to getting the problem resolved. And just know
I will be praying for you. It's important that we always try and have a postive attitude, that's makes our healing process faster, the other is having great doctor's and
most important we must not forget the greatest physician of all "GOD"! Don't know what I would do
without Him.

By the way are getting ready for Christmas and the New Year? We are going to have a Christmas celebration here at the office - we just invited those on
our floor it will be fun especially if I don't shock anyone (smile). Well, I am going to start getting ready to go home in the nxt 45 minutes.

I also have CHF. I was implanted with an CRT-D on May 30th, 2008. I had two episodes of multiple shocks in the first month after the implant, before they got my medications straightened out. After that it was a definite love/hate relationship with my ICD. I hate to admit it but I also was a little scared of it going off.

Last month on Friday the 13th I felt a little lightheaded and it fire once. To make a long story short, my heart had started racing and the device did exactly what it was supposed to do. It turns out my magnesium level was low also my coreg has been increased. I now feel more comfortable with my ICD, it's there to take care of me- and it did. I still wish I didn't have to have it but I'm glad I do.
