abdomnial pain?
Posted by MrsG on 2009-12-31 17:50

I am 5 days out of surgery and wondering why I would have a very localized spot of burning pain in my mid abdomen only when I bend or press on the spot? I am hoping some one knows what I am talking about and can tell me if I should be worried or not.
Thanks, MrsG

Heyy..
if u had an external pacemaker during surgery then it could be from the incision healing. Otherwise i have no idea sorry!

Abdominal Injections

I had to give myself abdominal injections of Lovenox prior to my pacer surgery. The injections never bothered me but the pain in my abdomen lingered for quite a while. If you don't have any known reason for the pain, it wouldn't be a bad idea to pass it by your Dr.
Good Luck,
Bob

Hi, Thank you ballerine.nm and Bob
I didn't have an external pacemaker although with a heart beat of 29 per min some wondered why lol and I had no injections other than the vamps at 5 am and the IV ppl
This is all still so new, I will contact my Dr in the morning and see what he has to say :-)
thanks again

A lot of people I have talked to have had pain in their stomachs after an implant PM surgury just do to the simple fact that they consitently contract thier ab muscle unconciously to over compensate for their new incision in their sholder. I dont know if what I just typed made any sense but basically ab hurts from contracting muscles to deal with trying to imobolize their arm and deal with the new insision. I dont know if this is the case with you but just sharing some experiences with you.

update on ab pain

Hi all thanks very much for all the info. My ab pain is gone just stopped one day ...but much more on my plate atm ...my incision has healed beautifully and I am sleeping comfortably on my side (YAY!) but I have weird heart palps on quiet days, when I am working or we are out looking for property or whatever I am fine but if I am home relaxing on the couch my heart feels almost the same as what it did when it sent me to the hospital. I have been back to the doc for my post-op check up and again for this 'problem' I feel I have. Doc says my heart is working fine and so is the PM but just like when you take your car in for that pesky knocking sound that is never there for the mechanic, I was feeling fine when I saw him he said I have an extra beat and am probably just ultra sensitive to it.
Thats all well and good but I hate feeling like this and would like to feel 'normal' ALL the time.
Maybe I just need to give it time for everything to get settled in? I hope so :-)
