Well thr first bit is over, but very sore, have a pocket heamatoma and hope this does not mean I will have to have it done again, it is larger than 3cms, any advice please. Have a dual lead meditronic pacemaker fitted, done under local but took longer than expected as top lead did not want to go where it should. Very scared

 

 

What has you scared? I can see the hematoma might have you worried but even if they have to go back to fix it, you've been through the worst. The leads will stay where they are, all they'd do is clean up the pocket that holds the pm.

Best wishes to you for a quick recovery. It's normal to be sore and scared at first but I promise it does not last long and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

 

as TraceyE says the worst is over. You probably won't have to have it done over as these hematomas have a way of being absorbed by the body, but have your doctor look at it just in case. I had a large one just below pacer and it finally went away by itself. I bruise very easily and doctor felt bad she bruised me but , the most important thing? She got the leads in right and pacer implanted properly, so the soreness and black and blue mark were minor annoyances. You will feel better every day and being scared will be a thing of the past...trust me! Sue

 

It kills me to hear you are so scared. I was scared too for a long time. But remember your doctors are smart, educated and good at what they do. They are taking good care of you. If you are ever unsure about how your are feeling or what is going on, call them. They need to know you will need some TLC to feel better.

Things will get better, your body will heal and your scary feelings will get less and less until they finally disappear. It's different for everyone. Some people move on quickly, some take a little bit longer.

Thankyou so much for replying, makes me feel not so alone, hope all of you are well, I am 60 years young and 4 years ago had a heart attack and stents fitted, have always had low heart rate and blood pressure, but have been passing out, hence the decision to install a pacemaker, going to look on the posative and hope this will soon be a bad dream, and I will be up and running. Should stay off internet and come on here first, the more I read the more scared I felt, but now I know that others have felt the same , has really helped, a big thankyou once again, cyber hugs to you all. STAY OFF GOOGLE!!!!! Google is now enemy #1!! LOL....it will drive you insane to read all that scary stuff. Just remain as positive as possible and rest. :-)

 

When I got mine done, I also had a large hematoma. The doc told me to watch it, and if it got bigger to call.
What really helped me was I filled a sock with rice, tied it off, and stuck it in the microwave for 30 seconds or so, just until it was warm. Then placed it over the incision. The warmth felt so good, took away the soreness, and the heat is supposed to help the hematoma reabsorb. You could check with your doc before you try it.

 

Hi all, back to the hospitol today, with a certain amount of fear, and a nice greasy hairstyle that would have made Elvis jealous. Bandage off and stiches out, looks as if I have been kicked by a horse but, YES the heamatoma has gone down, the pace maker is working fine, still have to keep left arm down, but after a shower and hairwash feel human again.Here come the next chapter in my life and its gonna be good to feel a bit normal. Thanks mikesmom it sure did help with the soreness, and the swelling is smaller so good chance that as well, Thanks so much everyone for making this journey a little easier, will pop back just incase I can be of help to someone on their wat through it all.
