A couple weeks ago, some of you posted questions you wanted me to ask the Cardiologist. Here is your feedback...
arabella – Q: Is it better to par boil potatoes than roast them or whether it is best to put them in raw. Is it better to use a hot knife to spread your icing or a cold one with hot water, and, is it better to get someone else to peel the onions or to wear a divers mask.
A: He became a Cardiologist because the culinary discipline was far too complex, and consequences of mistakes potentially catostrophic. When he flunked out of the Hell’s Kitchen Culinary Institute, he fell back onto a career in medicine. Surprisingly, many courses transfer between the two fields. His parents were devastated that he decided not to pursue an honorable career as a cook, and that heart- break is what drove him to specialize in Cardiology. And finally, Why do you think doctors wear masks?
Q: it better to pay off your credit cards or to run up a huge bill and skip the country.
A: it’s best to divorce her before she runs up a huge credit card bill and skips the country. “Tiger”
snitch- Q: If I imagine that the doctor would have less time for me because he had to answer another patient's questions that he didn't ask for himself but for different people from an online supporting group, I might be just a little bit angry with that.
A: He said that even if I didn’t ask questions, he wouldn’t spend more time with you. Not really. The fact is your comment is based on an erroneous assumption on your part and way off base. Lighten up and realize you don't know everything.
Ronaldo - Q: is there increased risk of heart attack for PM patients?
A: His response was an emphatic NO.
Q: Does your dependency on a PM increase the longer it is in?
A: No, in many cases the need for a pace maker can actually decline. Dependence is the result of your heart condition.
Angelie – Q: Didn't know that pacers were now equipped with video. Man, will they be surprised when they interrogate me..... At least I won't have to wear blush on that day.
A: They use a wide angle macro lens and Panavision cameras. You might want to reconsider and powder something.
Q: What are the effects of a device moving around too much, and can it increase the chance of damaging a lead.
A: Generally the movement of a PM will reduce the risk of damage to leads and tissue. We tend to either leave the device floating in the pocket or place a loose suture on one end of the generator to limit movement to some degree but not hold it rigid. That way as muscle and tissue move through motion of the extremities, the device can move as well and not stress the tissues.
Pookie –Q: Does a pacemaker increase your risk of kidney or bladder cancer?
A: Not heard that one, but he does not believe there is a correlation.
Q: 60% of pm patients might get sleep apnea?
A: There are studies which appear to indicate a correlation between sleep apnea and PM however, there are similar indicators that the correlation is to heart disease and not the PM
PadWC2 –Q: Ask him to join the PM Club ?
A: My Cardiologist is the one who directed me to the Pacemaker Club.
walkerd – Q: can you run a lead a little lower in the anatomy?
A: Yes, however it’s unlikely even a full jolt of 26 joules from an ICD would bring that thing back to life. Learn to live with it.
Pookie – Q: What effect does being in Junctional Rhythm for hours and hours each day have long term.
A: Junctional Rhythm’s are generally considered to be benign, though there are some conditions under which they can be an issue. Your medical team is familiar with your heart condition and therefore better
Admittedly, a couple answers here could be directly from my twisted mind, I'll let you figure out which ones.

"The fact is your comment is based on an erroneous assumption on your part and way off base. Lighten up and realize you don't know everything."
Hi,
what I wrote wasn't a question at all, it was just what I was thinking when I read that you had no questions for your cardio yourself, but wanted to get what you paid for, and so asked people to post their questions so that you could get those answered. And I still don't think that it is so erroneous to assume that a doctor's appointment is not for asking other people's questions, but for talking about your case. I do understand, however, that it might have nothing to do with the time the doctor takes for each patient.
I must say that how you comment on my thought and your cardios answer to my thought here is pretty offensive. I really wonder how you could get a "I know it all" out of my thought.
