Airport security scanners

Hi,
Has anybody travelled form an airport using the new security body-scanner? At the moment, I show my pacemaker card when travelling to ensure I don't have to pass through the current electro-magnetic security gates. Does the same apply to the scanners?

When I flew through SLC last summer they moved me to the body scanner line when I said I had a pm. They said it was safe for pm's but my choice if I went through or had the pat down. They answered all my questions so I went through, then came home and researched it. They're perfectly safe for pm's.

I traveled a lot till this past year and use to get patted down. I talked with my doctor and Medtronic Tech a couple of years ago about going thru the scanners. My pacermaker is a Medtronic KDR901 and the tech checked with Medtronic and said that as long as I didn't stand in the scanner more than a few seconds it would be ok. Sure made my life easier but I am glad i don't have to travel for work any more. You should check with your doctor and your pacemaker manufacturer to see if can go thru the scanners.
Haven't had the pleasure of going thru the body scanners yet and think I better check with Medtronic.

Happy travels

Tom

here's TSA's details on the imaging technology. It's perfectly safe for us, no magnets involved

Tom, my pm is also safe to go through the metal detectors, but that doesn't mean I won't set the detector off. When you set it off first it takes twice as long for the pat down, so I never go through them even though I could. It's a personal choice.

dont trust them

The little research I have done so far indicates a new type of technology being used in those boddy scanners that has not been fully tested. Till I know more, I am electing the pat me down approach.

Awesome
Peace out!
