As I had just commented on another post, I had my ablation/PM implant on 10/2/09. I thought my only challenge was I had A-fib. I could not feel I had it, but all the "machines" showed I did.
I did not have the usual things happening for me was why I was in doubt in having the implant. I did not follow the usual "faintness/weak/short of breath/etc. Pre-PM. My cardiologist implanted the Boston Scientific PM. My Post-implant seemed to be too "easy" after listening to some of the PM Club "posts". I just kept waiting for the "other shoe to drop" and have the problems some of the members have had Pre-PM.
Having questions, etc. as most people do, I went and bought groceries to last weeks & weeks, preparing for me being "down" forever! Well, after the first two nites using a pain pill each nite for the incision, another week or 2 went by and I was sleeping on my left side. After one month of being really good & following all the doctors rules, I would forget, because I was feeling so good, and I would reach high (a no-no for 6-8 wks) and would lift "stuff" heavier than the Dr. said I could.
The PM did not get rid of my A-fib. I do have a lite head once in a great while and do become tired easily Post-PM and become short of breath for no apparent reason once in a while. Otherwise, I feel good & keep on "playing" and having fun, smiling & Bear Huggin' ~
Just give your self some time, do not rush your daily routines and follow your "gut" feelings. Smile ~ ~

PM for A-Fib

Typically a PM is implanted for a-fib only so that the doctor's can safely put you on medication to try to stop the a-fib. A PM by itself cannot stop A-fib, it is designed to keep the heart from going to slow, not from going to fast. However, once the PM is in place, they doctor's can try different medications safely that may otherwise cause your heart to beat to slowly. Odds are you aren't feeling much difference now, you most likely will feel the difference once they change your meds and get you on some that are working to slow your a-fib down to hopefully a stop.

People are gonna get fed up with me keep saying this, but....................I got my pm oct 2008 and felt awfully tired and unfit until oct 2009 when I enquired if my rate response was on, it wasnt. They switched it on and wow!!!! I immediately felt better, so much energy, not out of breath when running up and downstairs etc. It's worth checking!
