Has anyone ever had the experience of shocking someone in the shower with an ICD? I remember reading...early on...that it could happen, but wouldn't be felt strongly by the other person.
Information was wrong...

I was just wondering if anyone else had this type of experience.
It's bad enough it has to happen to me, but to have it hurt someone I really care about made it worse. I have a good cardiologist now, but the first one made me feel like he was treating a toenail and gave me very little information.

The ICD delivers the shock directly to the heart which is buried pretty deep in your body. I doubt that enough energy is conducted to the surface of your body to shock another person.

My wife said that the feeling is a slight tingling sensation. I guess with shower water improving the continuity in the circuit created between the two of you, the sensation could be a little stronger but it shouldn't be significant enough to "hurt" the other person. Where exactly were you two making contact when they got the shot of juice? Have you ruled out other possibilities ?

 

I have read info stating if it did go off in the shower with another person that there would be the "slight tingling" sensation also. His head was at my shoulder and just above my device. It didn't "hurt" him exactly, but he felt a lot more than just a tingling sensation. A lot more. I think the water being a conductor had a LOT to do with it. That is the last shower I take with anyone...but I wonder now about hot tubs and pools etc. Just made me feel like a freak I suppose.

 

What would a Taser feel like in the shower?

I can imagine it would have the same impact! This whole deal ended up changing my relationship with this man...that is what I think makes it so hard. I am afraid of it happening again. Like I said in my original post...I can take it effecting me directly, but to have it effect someone I care about that way was a big hit.
