Hi all,
My mom had a pacemaker put in July 2009, and mostly everything is good. Recently however, shes has gotten these weird bludges around the scar. She tells me that when she is active, the area feels like its burning. The doctor tells her that it's likely scar tissue buildup or fatty tissue build up. But that really doesnt tell us anything.
So my question is, Has anyone else had this happen to them? and if so, have you had surgery to get them removed?
Thanks in advance

Which dr said don't worry about it? If it wasn't the surgeon who put it in, you might want to talk to him.
I never had bulges but I had a build up of scar tissue around my pm that burned when I was active. It didn't happen that quickly, tho, it was over 15 years and 4 replacements. I had a plastic surgeon clean it up when I got my last replacement.
hmm...

it was the surgeon who put it in who told her of the fatty or scar tissue build up.
Is the burning feeling considered normal? She also says that she can feel this leads.

Can feel the leads as in they hurt, or is aware that they are in there? Some people can feel them pretty easily, depends on your build and how the surgeon put them in.
The scar tissue does build up and form a pocket, that's perfectly normal. I would think the burning should go away after the first few months. I'm no dr, only going by my own experience. For me, it burned the first month or two, then came back more constant, esp after a lot of activity, but not until after several replacement surgeries years later.
If you have doubts, get another dr to look at it.
