Scratching!!!
Posted by traceylatham on 2010-03-12 06:56

I have put in a couple of messages re the scratching sensation I have around my pacemaker and into my ribs. I think it must be my wording but I do not mean 'itching' I mean a rubbing abrasive sensation. I looked back at my messge record and realised I had this a few years ago as well! It is now there all the time and getting more obvious - it is driving me crazy. Docs say there is nothing wrong with pacemaker? I have fibromyalgia and there is talk that it could be inflammation around the area but why this horrible feeling. Anyone with similar or any suggestions please reply before I go completely mad with it cos the docs certainly not helping. Thanks Tracey

Just because the pm is working doesn't mean you aren't developing a reaction to the metal it's made of. I'd pursue with your fibromyalgia doc to see what can be done. Odds are the cardiologist hasn't seen this problem before and doesn't have a clue how to handle it.

Nice name. We have several other Tracy/Tracie's but none of them spell it right. :o)

Itching

My device causes many of the same sensations on and off in the 3 years and 3 days I've had it. The devices are foreign objects that our bodies defenses try to reject just like bacterias and viruses. It's natural. So this could be the issue and may be nothing to worry about, but, there is no way for us to know.
One theory on fibromyalgia is that the pain is caused by nerve endings becoming irritated which seems to correlate to what you may be experiencing including itching. As Tracey E said check with the doctor who treats your fibro. But by all means if it gets worse push harder on the medical people to get an answer.

Good luck
