I am still gathering info as I have been told I need a pacemaker for heart block. I am wondering how soon anyone has traveled after a pacemaker implantation? My doctor wants me around for at least 15 days post implant.
Also I may be misunderstanding but in some posts there seems to be reference to difficulty in heat with a pacemaker. What is that about?
Thanks, A Newbie

I went out of the state by plane 15 days after my PM. My Dr. wasn't concerned at all.
I had asked him prior to the surgery if I could make this trip as it was already planned & he said yes.

My Dr. was OK with me taking a previously booked vacation trip within a week of my initial implant. On the other hand, he knew I was accompanied by family and that I would not be lifting any bags.
I'm intrigued by the recent references to heat too - not something I'd heard of before.
travelling and heat...

Hi.
The travelling all depends on two things: your doctor's advice and how YOU feel.
The not tolerating the heat after having a pacemaker, well, some of us have experienced this, and some not.
I could handle heat prior to my pacer, now = I get all lightheaded and exhausted and short of breath. It sucks. I asked my cardiologist about it and he thought I was crazy. :) But I know I'm not cuz other members here have cited that they have experienced it too.
Take care,
Pookie
