After searching for an answer I find myself quite frustrated.
Just returned from a vacation and as usual when in the airport I request a full body search so that I don't have to go through the magnetometer.
The personel there said "we will be getting full body scanners so you won't need the pat down in the future.
Not taking their word for it I have tried google etc. for info. on full body scanners versus P. Makers---No information. I suppose the intelligent thing to do is call Medtronics------anyone heard what we should do?

Full Body Scanners & Pacemakers

As I understand it full body scanners should be harmless to our pacemakers as they are just souped up X-ray units. Very much like C T scanners which pacemakers can handle.

As Smitty said, they're perfectly safe for us because they don't use magnets, just xray. There are in a dozen or so airports in the US right now. They're still optional so we can choose the pat down if we prefer. I went through one in Salt Lake City and didn't have any problems. I finished up faster than my family that was in the regular line.
Here is more information.

There isn't a lot of tissue over your implant, so I wonder if your device still shows up on the scan. Do you still have to tell them you have a Defib/Pacer?

I called Medtronics for my pacemaker and they said that as long as the wall of the scanner is 6 inches or more away from the pacemaker, it should not affect it at all.
