Sky Diving
Posted by halfmanhalfmachine on 2010-07-09 16:10

So i was wondering if anybody here has gone skydiving before? I wanted to know if the Harness gets in your way of the pacemaker or defib units. I know this sounds crazy coming from somebody that has a defib. But i live everyday as if its my last and i have been wanted to go sky diving for about 5 years now. Any advice or help would be great .
Sincerely, Half man Half machine :)

Before undertaking an endeavor of this nature, you should always check with a medical professional first. Contact your local Medical Examiner and get their advice...good luck

Good advice Cabg Patch ... I'm a ' medical professional ' of sorts but will advise you go to the top and ask a cardiologist and also check with your pacemaker manufacturer. I would have thought just the added adrenaline from the added stress would produce more likelihood of arrhythmias in your heart ? The strap would surely ' snatch ' at the shoulder putting stress on the pacemaker wire ... and what about electro-magnetic fields around airplanes of that type ? So many unknowns to find answers to first ... good luck and let everyone know what you discover from this adventure ... I'm curious now ... maybe you could be in the record books for being the first skydiver to be defibrillated mid jump !? Lars, www.cardiacathletes.org
