replacement

I went for my office check today. The second the tech hooked me up she told me I went into ERI mode on June 21 at 4:11 am. So then I got to have the fun of scheduling the replacement. It's my first replacement, I've had my PM a little over 4 years. I'll be getting it done on Aug. 2. I work summer school and will be missing the last 2 days but oh well. Just in the summer we don't get sick days. I was hoping it would last until at least the fall. I have plenty of sick days saved from last year that I was planning on using when I had the replacement surgery. Oh well. I glad that this time it will be done at a hospital that's closer to me than last time. Lot easier when you have to be there at 6 am.

Replacement

I assume you are aware that ERI is elective replacement and you could push the replacement out without risk awhile. Typically I think it's about 3 months. Not sure anymore when fall is as it's always hot here, but something to consider if you really wanted to use sick leave.

Ditto what Patch said, you may be able to put it off a little bit longer than Aug 2 if it's more convenient for you. That said, replacements are super easy. If the first was a 10, the replacement is a 3 or 4. If you do it on a Fri, you should be more or less good to go by Mon.

Actually, this time is better for me. 3 mos. would be the end of Sept and with the school year starting the beginning of Sept I think it would be harder to take the time out then, especially if there were any complications. I work 1 on 1 with special needs kids kids and would rather not have any restrictions when working with them. July 30 my family has a baseball gane and the Aug 6 is my sons birthday so it falls nicely in between. We didn't have any plans to go anywhere so that won't be interrupted. Of course I had to tell the person scheduling the procedure that the doctor said I could decide when to go and it didn't need to be next Weds. (the paperwork said it had to be no sooner than then becaue I need to get of my coumadin for 5 days before hand)

I was taken back when I went in and they said I was in ERI mode and I needed to have the surgery within two weeks. I was lucky to have an understanding boss and co-workers that I was scheduled for it the following Monday. I had the appointment on a Friday. I only took a week and 1/2 off. I was fine by the end of the week. I needed a doctor note saying that I could go back to work. I was going stir crazy at home. Good luck with the replacement. It is a lot easier the 2nd time around.
