Dealing with Depression
Posted by pcsam on 2010-08-15 01:24

Hi Folks,
After my implant 5 weeks ago, I was feeling pretty good after the first 3 weeks. But in the last 2 weeks I am not feeling well especially when I get up on mornings until 12 noon. Most afternoons into the nights I am fine. I feel very nervous, light headed and depressed. My pacer was reprogrammed sometime during the 2 weeks but I cannot tell if this is the cause of the problem. Prior to the implant my pressure was always around 117/75 but now it higher and on 2 occasions over/around 147/91. Could it be something that I am doing or is it normal.
Thanks in advance.

Don't be nervous

Hi,
What is it that you feel nervous about? Do you feel well and able to get on with your life, or is there something you are worried about that you can get help with? As you say you feel light-headed I should mention that to the dr/cardio. Maybe you need fine-tuning of your PM settings. I hope you feel better soon and are able to get back to the things you enjoy; this in turn will probably help the depression.
Keep us informed and don't be afraid to ask more questions if you're concerned.

Thanks to Andrew for your help. I spoke to my cardio who discussed my PM settings in details and so I was able to come to terms that I have to learn to manage the situation. I have to say that the big thing was 'acceptance' and not to be afraid to say that I have pacemaker. I feel wonderful now after 1 week of relaxation and meditation. Will continue my meditation.....
thanks again.
