We've all heard the stories of people who've been revived from near death experiences, only to report seeing a bright white light, luring them away to a peaceful serene new existence. Well my friends, I now know what that light really signifies.
A few weeks back, my lovely wife took much needed vacation from work, and we decided to share some leisurely time doing whatever came to mind, but focusing on some quality time together. Some of you may recall my journal entry about adopting two homeless beasts to add to my wife's growing herd, but that was another story. This paranormal event was spooky and shook me to my foundation. So much so, until now, I haven't shared it with anyone.
Tucson is blessed with two native american tribes, located on the edge of town. The Pasqua Yaqui, and the Tohono O'odom. Both own and operate multiple casino's around the area which bring much needed financial independence to the members of their respective tribes, as well as the state. Being a good citizen, of course, my wife likes to contribute to the betterment of native peoples as often as practical.
So we decided to visit a casino during her first day off work. To make our excursion a little more interesting, we decided to visit the one south of town, not far from the border. That way we could go a scenic route and relax on our way to and fro. My wife was born in Arizona and has a total love for the southwest and it's culture. We could easily have accessed the casino via the freeway, but back country roads offer far more fascinating vistas and the opportunity to see desert wildlife, including some of the two legged kind.
I had awakened feeling a bit off center, but that's not unusual for me most days now. We learn to adjust and accept those anomalies, and just press on trying to squeeze everything out of every day with little thought to our condition. Sometimes our zeal precludes us from recognizing the risks we are taking by ignoring those signs.
After my wife made a sizable contribution for the betterment of mankind, we had a casual luncheon and just savored each others' company. During our conversation I noticed I was still experiencing little twinges and pains here and there, but decided they were insignificant and ignored them.
Like all pleasant experiences, it came to an end far too soon for our liking, but we knew we must head home. My aches and pains a forgotten annoyance, I decided to take the back road once again to help stretch out the time just a little more. We became lost in conversation and were thoroughly enjoying ourselves, when seemingly out of the pure desert sky it struck me in the middle of nowhere.
I suddenly saw that white light flash before my eyes, so brilliant that I knew beyond reason that it was heavenly in nature. In a flash, I was ready to go, but just as fast I heard my wife's voice calling me back from the brink. Her words more sensed than heard but clear none the less. And as quickly as it started I was back in this world.
It was about two weeks later that our worst fears were confirmed, the photo enforcement traffic ticket arrived in the mail, and it wasn't from heaven cause these guys ain't forgiving. In fact, if you get a photo enforcement ticket in Arizona, you'd best be independently wealthy, the fine is substantial.
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night...
So now you too know what those white lights signify

Well, you are a gifted story teller, and entertained us quite well with the LIGHT event; now that you have entered the light, and paid for the light, you have to learn from the light! Stay off those back roads!

Okay, so he wasn't the one who recorded the hit version... but he still wrote it and I have a great rendition of him doing it live in concert...
My favorite lines, now that I'm feelin' kinda older are...
"With a boulder on my shoulder, feelin' kinda older,
I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin,
the calliope crashed to the ground"

in western canada where our grandchildren live calgary to be precise., i have noticed slow school zones on every street practically. if you don't slow down a block away you have a nice picture taken of your licence and the calgary traffic division send you a nice fine to pay. here in ontario our new law is if you see a police officer stopped with lights flashing attending to a criminals like yourself, you must drive in the far lane as much as posible to avoid hitting the big policeman. the fine for not doing this or not doing this as the policeman thinks it should be done you get a big fine of ouch 450.00 that is right . if he feels you are not over as far as you could be then that is your punishment for the day. so so in sharing i just want you to know patch that we have our own atrocities here and blinding lights hugs jess and what would we do without you patch? guess what the spam is KPG

Patch, we could not do without your jolly jokester self. I can not imagine PM Club without you and your cheer.
I am on Facebook and sometime that is so blah and negative, plus way tooooo many games being played.
A lot of times, I do not sign in on PM Club, as I just skim thru, read and 'catch up' on everyone and the new members. I do have to admit, when I see you have a 'post', I do sign in, read, chuckle & 'comment'.
Thanks Cabg ~ Keep the 'funnies' comin' ~ ~
Have a Great Weekend,

Patch,
my pm will be a week old tomorrow and I have been reading the posts on this site everyday. I didn't know that there would be such great entertainment on it as well as very good info. You should write free lance (or maybe you already do) as God surely has given you a talent for it. I also had no idea so many young people have pm's. I find that there is so much to be thankful for every minute of the day. My husband is a saint - he just got done giving me a sort of shower after he went to the store and bought a handheld shower head. Then he smeared me with body lotion and sprayed me with good smelling body spray and helped me get clean jamies on. We have been married 45 years (fell in love when we were 13) and I know I love him more each day. Strange how being close to not living makes living soooo much better. Thank you God! p.s. we love AZ and will be in Chandler Jan, Feb and Mar of 2011.
