I hope nothing happens to me today, because I forgot to put on my medic alert bracelet.

tempting fate

you work in a hospital for your cardiologist, if something happens odds are good someone can come up with a medical record pretty quickly! No car races on the way home from work.

I know!

Grab a sharpie marker and write down all relevant info on your arm.

Medic Alert

I usually bow to Ms Tracey's expertise however in this case, I think she's missed the target with her advice.

Knowing your Cardiologist, Doctor Dick, I think I'd rush back home and get the Medic Alert ID immediately. In fact, you may want a police escort to help expedite the process. No guarantee without it Dr. Dick'll remember you're a heart patient.

I'm not sure if you take any medications or not, but the first thing my Dr. told me after surgery was to get a medical alert bracelet.
It lists I have a PM, & the medicines I take.

I even have a sticker in my car window that Medic Alert gave me to alert emergency workers. So when I wander out & forget it (very infrequently) I worry that I will look the fool when they are looking for the bracelet. Hah!! So I had a good laugh at your post & the comments..

Cheers,

Janet

Where and What do you have

I haven't ever seen any mention of a sticker for your car. Where did you get this? I would also like to know what type bracelets you all have...standard metallic thing or a custom bracelet with some sort of charm. I have an ICD (pm and defib) so I would like to find a bracelet that is small but not so "customized" that no one would notice it's a medic alert thing. Anyone with information on the bracelet and sticker sources? Photos?

americanmedical.com

There are a gazillion choices on this website. I have the "childrens" sport bands, because I'm not that into jewelry. I actually have a few in different colors so I can mix and match with outfits.

I also have online medical record, which is free with your purchase. All of your medical info is online, as much or as little as you'd like because you enter it and update it as needed. It's a peace of mind, knowing that no matter where I go my medical information follows me. All my bracelet states is "name, pacemaker, and www.myomr.com, and my access code for the website.

At one point my online medical record came in very handy when I was being admitted to the hospital. I had my laptop with me and looked it up to provide the nurse with my complete medical history.

I have a silver charm from stickyjewelry.com that I wear on a pandora bracelet.
It's round with the medic allert symbol on 1 side & my info on the other.
