I couldn't help notice the preponderance of pictures of pace maker scars in the member gallery. In fact there are in excess of 35 images of this genre'.
I can't help ponder why so many people, male and female feel compelled to post those photos, after all we all have one. What's the big deal. I'm pretty sure mine's bigger than yours, but I don't feel the need to show it.
If you've seen one, you've seen them all, and it's unlikely any of us will make the cover of Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.

Patch, I'm with you on this one. I have my pm scar and my Csection scar. That's enough.
I'd rather see the real person, not the scar.
Patch, speak for yourself

ha ha... you may not believe it but I think that deep down inside I am a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model! So it may not be as unlikely as you may think .... You never know what the Pacer Chicks may come out with. lol
However I don't think that mine are bigger than other women's (I have two) pacemaker scars that is.
Thanks once again for the laughs...

Ha!
I
I'll never show anyone pictures of my big 'ol rear end either. I'm fine with my pm scar. I'm just not posting any pictures of it. After surgeries I used to show it to my nephews to gross them out, lol!
Seriously though some people need to see photos of other people's pm scars so they can get used to their ow scars. My scar never bothered me, even back when I was 23 and young and single. Those were the days, lol. Having a pacemaker scar NEVER lost me a boyfriend, never freaked out someone when I was wearing a bathing suit or tank top.

Patch ----- You didn't have to look at every single picture if you didn't want to and you even counted them to let us know there are 35+ photos. . . . you are just as interested as anyone else, admitt it!
On the real tip ----- those photos were very helpful to me before I got implanted last month because I was just freaked out about what the scar would look like and looking at other people's badge of honor calmed me tremendously! Some of us like to know what to expect and those photos are there for people like me!!
Anyway, mine is rather small and you can barely tell my PM is in my chest 'cause it's buried and I bet mine looks w-a-a-a-y better than yours --------- 'wanna see?

Thankful for the photos!

As for myself....
When I found this website after getting my pm earlier this year it was so comforting to read and learn through postings from people with first hand experience. When I saw the scar photos from other members it really hit home with me though. I was so glad to see them. It helped me to accept it better and to seemingly have a closer bond with all these people. Many thanks to the people willing to share those photos. Please continue to post.
Sincerely,
Dwight
Prior to PM Implant

I haven't looked at the photos. I will say that when I found out I was to have the procedure, there was a guy in our office who quietly said, "I've had it." He took off his tie, unbuttoned his shirt (thank God no one looked into my office during his de-clothing) and showed me the scar. It was almost not there. I didn't know anyone else that had the procedure. After my procedure, I discovered that the scar/implant site is very different on a female. I wish I had asked my EP. Initially, I looked like I had a 3rd breast it was so big. The doctor assured me it would go down in time, and it did. The bulge is still noticeable. The scar is such a tiny thin line that you wouldn't even notice it without getting VERY close. He explained that there isn't as much fat on women (HAH!) and it's a little more noticeable, especially if you are thin, since there's not as much to cover it up with. I guess what I'm saying is that I wouldn't have panicked as much if I had known my implant site was normal, would keep improving, etc., so the photos, especially of females, would have helped.

Cabg Patch, sorry you feel offended by the pictures of scars, but I agree with Dwight that it's like sharing your story/experience. I personally looked through for scars to see if my healing was normal, and what the scar might look like in the end. I'm in my 20s, and needed the pacemaker due to trauma to the heart from a car accident caused by another driver. Maybe you might think it's not a big deal, but to me, it was. I was angry and scared. I never asked for this; I wasn't born like this. I don't know what others' reasons are for posting their scar pictures, but I think it's an individual decision with individual reasons.
