Recently I started seeing TV commercials for www.afibstroke.com.
I decided to check out their web site but you can't get any more information about them without filling out a form. I don't give out any personal information on unknown web sites. Might get some annoying high pressure salesperson calling me.
Is anybody familiar with this web site or company.

A-Fib

Hey John,
I never heard of these people, but since I have episodes of A-Fib from time to time I looked at the site. I even registered to receive their information as I'm very interested in seeing what in the world they may be peddling.
I know as well as anyone that A-Fib can be serious as the effects can range from slight discomfort to deadly. But if death or strokes from A-Fib were as common as their blurb implies I think we would be hearing about more of our members having gone on their reward.
I say to any of you that visit at that site rely on your doctor for your information. I'll pass along any thing I get from them.

I also saw the commercial - I didn't check it out yet. There is a phone number to try as well. 1-877-571-2342 and I think they will send you information.
Not much help and you can give it a try and let us know how you make out with this.

I have mild a-fib, but have read quite a few articles. Here is one that I have found to be most helpful: http://www.a-fib.com/Overview.htm

Ablations

I have had 2 Ablations by the same doctor. Both failed to cure the Afib and both placed me in ICU for a couple of days. They go into the heart via the artery in the groin. The instrument attempts to "Zap" the areas within the heart that cause the electrical signals to short out causing the irregular heartbeat. In the first, I went into a major heart-wobble and they had to terminate the procedure. I was in ICU for 2 days so that they could monitor my condition. In the 2nd, they burn't a hole in my heart resulting in blood loss and dangerously low blood pressure. I spent 6 nights in ICU and all is well except, I still have Afib. My insurance refuses that I travel to certain hospitals specializing in Ablations and where their reputations are crystal clear. I am now on Tikosyn, specialty prescription, which apparently slows my rythme. I know people who had 1 procedure and were curred; others needed 2-3. I'm worried about tempting fate as is my wife who had the worse time of it!
Had one ablation

I was in afib constantly for 104 days. After the insurance company stalled for months I finally got the ablation. The ablation did reduce the afib so now it occurs about 12 to 13 percent of the time. I was in the hospital for one day.
I would like to get a second operation to see if the afib can be reduced to zero so I can get off the crappy drugs.
It's for Pradaxa

The Food and Drug Administration Monday approved Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH's blood-thinning drug Pradaxa to prevent strokes in patients with irregular heart rhythms.
Pradaxa is a new type of anticoagulant designed to prevent the formation of blood clots and could replace the widely used anticoagulant warfarin.
afib ablation

I had mixed results with ablation. My afib is severe causing blackouts weakness and severe headaches. It had become chronic and I was never in sinus rythm. My first ablation was at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC by Dr. David Rubin. Nine hours working on the left pulmonary vein nerve pathways. I went home the following day. I remained in sinus rythm for about 18 months.
It became severe again and I had a second ablation. The second time the EP study found the problems to be in the right atrium and the ablation was done there. I went home the same day.
Now I'm in afib 2-3 days per week. It has restored some quality to my life. It's been about eight months now. When it occurs it's severe. The next step will be a Maze procedure and a dual chamber pacemaker. I'm trying my best to keep from having this done.
Here's the rub... Prudential kicked me off disability the very day of my ablation surgery. Their cardiologist decided I had nothing wrong with me. I've been fighting them since January.
Insurance companies = racketeers = the mafia.
Why didn't they put Pradaxa on web site?

I was very suspicious of www.afibstroke.com because about the only information they had on the web site was a form to fill out or a phone number to call. I wonder if you will start getting some pushy sales calls or a bunch of junk mail.
Getting the ablation operation approved was more difficult than the operation. The insurance company stalled for months.
After the doctor called for approval the insurance company suddenly stopped receiving my premium payments. I ended up sending them two payments so they if they purposely lose one payment then the other payment might make it. Calling customer service or sending emails to find out what happened to the payment was a waste of time. One payment was sent online and the other was sent certified mail return receipt I finally ended up with the premium paid a few months in advance.
The date of the operation changed a few times before the doctor finally finally got the ablation approved. The doctor wanted a CT scan of the heart in which the location where the CT scan was to be performed kept changing and may or may not be approved.
Two days before the operation I finally found out the operation and CT scan were approved.
Last August the pacemaker was replaced and they didn't stall this time. It was probably because this operation was close to congressional hearings on insurance any they probably trying not to piss off another voter.
I agree with

AFIB non-prescription solution

Hi Everyone
I have suffered from AFIB for over 30 years. I have tried everything from serious beta-blockers to blood thinners.
Last year, concurrent with serious stress at work, I landed up in the ER twice with two major attacks of AFIB. Serious pain related fibulations lasting around and hour.
Out of desperation I turned to a doctor who has embraced a balance of western and natural remedies along with addressing life-style/attitude change.
The biggest breakthrough was when he put me of 5htp, a natural supplement that gives the body the building blocks to create more Seratonin. His opinion is that the AFIBS are caused by a shortage of Seratonin. He tested my blood and got confirmation. Seratonin is the hormone that supplies the healthy environment for the nerve endings. A lack of seratonin can cause the nerves to mis-fire which puts the two pace makers in the heart to go out of sinc.
Bottom line, he put me on Neuro-replete....and the problem immediately went away and did not return until I stopped taking the supplement. So, I am back on it.
I am also enjoying a ton of other benefits.....mostly calm, more energy, fewer headaches, better colon performance, calmer attitude to the stress at work.....best of all....it is a supplement...not a drug.
Hope this helps.

I have had 2 ablations and have a pacemaker.
I am scheduled to have another ablation in Jan..
I am 67 years old and have decided not to have the third one done.
I stay in afib a lot and as much as I hate having it I have become used to it.
I am a veteran and get all of my medical benifits for free.

Hi!
is it possible that you could provide me with more in depth information on the Neuroreplete that you have taken.
I would greatly appreciate it.
I would like to know how you are doing with it, any side effects, how it is monitored and any dangers.
Also, if anyone else has information to this, feel free to send me an email.

Thanks !

I have Afib so badly to the point of not getting adequate sleep. Went to doctor yesterday, had had 280 episodes in 3 months. Does anyone else have the same thing. I have questions about how it makes you feel as it is happening. I get dizzy alot and the doctor says that is because when I'm in Afib my heart races to 150 beats a minute causing me to get lightheaded. Also when it happens, it is usual at night when I'm trying to sleep. I get a tightening feeling in my neck and for a split second I feel like I can't swallow. It is almost like the muscles in my throat won't allow it. I kind of panic for a second thinking I'm going to die and then I realize I don't need to swallow to live, but for that second I feel as though I do.
Does anyone else experience this or am I crazy?

Are you taking any Statin drugs? These are drugs that are used to lower cholesterol. When I was taking those drugs I was getting dizzy and couldn't walk very far.
I do have trouble swallowing at times and lots of burping. The burping is worse when sitting and makes it difficult to get through a long job interview and I am out of work.
Eating small amounts of food instead of big meals does help but doesn't get rid of the problem. I wonder if stomach problems can cause afib or the afib is causing the stomach problems.
Exercise seems to help. When I am felling tired or dizzy I get up and start walking around and a few minutes later I feel a lot better. I do a half mile to one mile walk each day.
At night time I use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea. This makes sleeping a lot easier. Have you had a sleep study done for sleep apnea? Sleep apnea is where you stop breathing multiple times during the night and it could lead to heart problems like atrial fibrillation.

Thanks johnb10000. Glad to know other people feel some of the things I feel. No I'm not on any statins. I have no cholesterol problems, just heart stopped beating at night when I would go to sleep.
I'll try the slow, small meals and see if that helps.
I do feel somewhat better (dizzy) since my doctor increased my blood pressure meds. Who knows what triggers what? I never in a million years thought I would be experiencing something like this. Never been sick a day, never on any meds and now look at me. Oh well, could be far worse, right?
thanks for writing. Susan

Hi Cathi,
I would also like any information that you may have regarding the Neuro-replete or the 5htp. I have found a website that carries both and was wondering if you could pass the information regarding which product you are using and the manufacturer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, my mom was just hospitalized with A Fib and is in rehab now.
My email is markr@triad.rr.com
Thanks

I had my first event about 5 years ago. I felt like I had major gas and if I could just get rid of it I would be O.K. I had an ablation 1 mo later. I had my third one 2 years ago. I took Amiodarone until this past Sept. It kept me from having any major events. Everytime I had even the smallest or the beginning of an event I would always have GAS. I saw a spot on our local news one night about 10 years ago about a fellow who was having similar problems. At that time I just listened I DID'NT HAVE A CLUE what they were talking about. Just something about his heart beating wrong. He said the same thing about GAS. The doctor studied him for awhile and found that the gas was causing his asophagus to exspand and touch his heart and that was short circuting him. He got fixed! I have brought this up with my doc and he just poo poos it?
