luca's pacemaker

Hi to everyone and thank you for all the responses to my 2 posts. (mine and luca's) I have had a very emotional last several days as we are trying to decide how to proceed. I am expecting feedback from another doctor tonight. Trying to shield my son from the indicision/ lack of agreement on the part of his parents, but he is getting very excited about having some kind of surgery. Last night he couldn't sleep because of all the thoughts in his head. Hopefully this will wrap up with some kind of decision in the next few days. Your responses meant a lot to me and I will read them all to Luca when we have decided what to do, for now I only read a few, trying not to dwell on it. He really likes the idea of being in a club!! Happy Thanksgiving to all! Sharon

Thinking about you and Luca

Hi Sharon
Wow! It's already tough to make this sort of decision as an adult. I can only imagine what you're going through having to worry about a loved one.
Tell Luca he will certainly be welcome as a new member although I can think of several other types of clubs he might enjoy more. We have a good group here, but all of us were pushed in it through adversity.
I wish Luca could be in a soccer club or a swim team rather than in the Pacemaker forum. In any event, from what I've read here, he will make many new friends.
Keep that morale high and keep us posted on developments.
Edouard

It sounds like you and your husband are doing a really good job keeping Luca positive about the possible outcomes of all this. Pat yourself on the back a bit!

Have a wonderful holiday! Sounds like you and your husband are wonderful parents, Luca is very lucky. Tell him he can be an honorary member of our club even if he doesn't get his pacemaker just yet. Please let us know how he's doing.

You will be running around the next day!

My granddaughter, Aletheia, had her first pacemaker at 3 days old. It was the most difficult for her parents and us - she was raring to go within a day. Since then she has had 2 additional pace maker battery replacements and there has been no problem. She got her 2nd at 2.5 years, and the next day when we got home she was jumping off the couch and running around making us all nervous wrecks. You are doing a great job preparing him - and the limitations to his little life should be really minimal. If you would like to e-mail her you can send it to me at japresler@aol.com - Luca can too - she is also excited when she meets another child with a pacemaker.
