hi, i hope everyone is enjoying the new year. Thanks to everyone who was so interested in Luca and his PM. Well, next week, the 11th we finally go to the hospital to close the patent ductus arteriosus(hope I wrote that correctly) and insert a reveal recorder. Operation should be the 12th. Little Luca is very excited about this, although, and I dont know why, he says he wanted the pacemaker!! My husband couldnt be convinced, so as it wasnt life threatening, we will do one thing at a time. I feel better having the recorder so we can finally know what is going on with his heart. cant know now, but imaging the PM is not far off. I notice a big difference between his endurance and that of his friends. Wish us luck!! happy New year to all of you, Sharon(Luca's mom)

Hi Sharon,

Thank you so much for the news on Lucas. I've been thinking about him and wondering how he is doing.

Wishing Lucas the best and I know he will do just fine.

Best of luck with his surgery and recovery! What a cute kid, love his attitude. Being sunny and positive will get him back on his feet faster. Please let us know how he's doing. He'll be in my prayers.

Reveal recorder...

The reveal recorder is minor surgery, I had to have it myself before getting a pacemaker. It may be sore for a few days but with some form of painkiller and a little ice-cream (just because it's nice) Luca will back to normal really quickly. Good luck on the 11th!

Feel free to send me a message containing any questions that you may have although I'm no expert I have experience.

home from the hospital

Well, we came home without doing anything! Tests in the hospital revealed that Luca's heart is getting tired out and his ventricle is dialated (has changed enough in the last 2 months to worry them) and his mitral valve is not working well. They want him to have the pacemaker SOON and close the PDA in the same operation once he is paced. We are letting him go away with his class for a week and he'll be paced in one month. He was quite upset in the hospital, he said "I really wanted to come here to get more energy, and now I have to wait a month!" I am glad it is finally decided. So, he will be an official member in a month-do you make t-shirts or something I could get him? Tracey-he is exceptionally sunny and positive, funny you sensed that! Thanks for all your support, means a lot to us. Sharon
