I received notification a year ago on the Guidant pacemaker class action lawsuit in Canada. So far, there has been no news I heard regarding the process of this action.
How long do such things normally take? Has anyone gone through this process themselves? What can be expected?
I'm TOTALLY at sea here.....

Try googling to see if there has been any further info. If you still have the notification, maybe they have more info.

I am one of the lawyers representing the plaintiffs in this class action. We will post updates about the class action on our website as information becomes available. Please refer to http://kimorr.ca/FL-Guidant_Pacemakers.html
Truenorth, what part of Canada are you from?

If you still post here, can you tell me what you know about what's going on with this suit? Seems to be moving like molasses in January. In the end I suspect all we'll get is a gift certificate for two at the Olive Garden, for all the trouble this has given us. The lawyers'll make out well enough, though....yeah, I'm a pretty cynical dude.
Hey, polaris.

I'm from Pembroke, near Ottawa; you?
I only know what the kim orr website tells us. It's slow going, and if I were you I wouldn't count on anything being resolved for several years at least. Also, since there are over twenty-eight thousand plaintiffs, don't expect to retire on the money. Personally, between 10 and 20 grand is about tops as far as what the award might be--a nice if dull amount. I'll take it, though!
New Update Posted

If you haven't been there lately, polaris, here is the latest update from the Kim Orr site:
UPDATE:
The Defendants served their Statement of Defence in spring 2011. The parties are currently engaged in the documentary production process. Based on representations made by the Defendants during the certification motion, it is expected that the documentary production will be voluminous.
[I guess 'voluminous' means that at least another year is going to go by before another update happens....just kidding! ;-)]
Time to reach a settlement, in my opinion...

I think it's time the two parties come to a settlement; isn't that what mostly happens in cases like this anyway? It's been two years since I first received notice of this and it seems like it could take another TEN! Settle, guys! Settle!
