I have had a pacemaker since I was 15 and got a replacement in May 2010 and I want to buy an exercise bike, but I’ve heard people saying don’t get a magnetic one, but most are magnetic and I wanted to know if it is true that people with pacemakers can’t use them. (I’m sure you’re able to use them)?

Hi PMC,
I have a magnetic exercise bike. I was a bit concerned when I go it but was assured that it was ok. Haven't had any problems.
When I went to the gym, the weighing scale had a notice on it that people with pacemakers shouldn't use the scale. I suppose it must have had some type of magnetic field.... not too sure. Anyway, no problems with my upright exercise bike at all.

The magnet is distant from your pacemaker so should be a problem. Just don't lean over the area where the magnetic flywheel is located, although I doubt that would be a problem either.
I pretty much ignore the warnings on most of the gym equipment and take it as just CYA.
