Preparation

Welcome. Sorry to hear your husband is facing surgery. It's tough but most procedures have become commonplace and the medical profession has a high success rate in most procedures. Not much you can do to prepare for the procedure. Try not to stress about the situation, and educate yourself on the procedures so that you are aware of what is going on and what to expect. Google the procedure or go to a medical site such as WebMD or Cleveland clinic and there should be a lot of information available.

Don't stress about clots, the Dr will ensure he receives anti clotting agents, probably coumadin to keep the problem under control. It's standard procedure for any open heart procedure. They will also keep him on an inhalant like albuterol amd oxygen during his stay in the hospital until the risk passes.

Good luck
