Ok This is no Joke When I was little my mom was in the waiting room holding me and a lady came up to her and they started talking after awile of talking the fact of me having a pacer came up . When my mom told her that she said oh ...where do you plug her up ?My mom just stared at the lady and told her that we did not plug me up anywhere .Really what my mom wanted to say was we push a little button in her back an a cord comes out of her butt and we plug her up to the wall! In conclusion ... some people can be ignorant!

Hi, Pacemakerkid!
Thank you for sharing the humor. I now have this "interesting" image replaying in my head! It's good to take time to just laugh. Sometimes I think we are too serious around here!
Happy pacing!

The ignorance amongst the general public about heart conditions never ceases to amaze me. If you mention to people that you have a heart condition they think you have blocked arteries and are about to have a heart attack. I have a pacemaker but my arteries are clear of any fatty deposits. Also I think some friends see you as a bit of a bionic freak if you tell them you have a pacemaker. Some early pacemakers were plugged into the mains but thank god those days are in the distant past.
So...

So, you guys are saying DON'T plug into the wall?
Wheeew! Glad I read these posts!
Hey, we should all take an old extension cord, cut off about a foot at the plug-in end, and when we meet people like pacemakerkid described, we could just pull out the end from our pocket and say, "It's no big deal, I just plug in for a while while I watch TV - and watch the reaction...!
Okay, my imagination is a scary place, but my wife likes it. Just trying to take my mind off these ^&$%$# PVCs!!!!

Hey Pacemakerkid:
My husband wants to know why I'm in tears and close to rolling on the floor while reading PMClub postings -- thank you for the wonderful laugh!
It reminds me of two of the amazing comments I've received so far. Three days after I got my PM implanted in January, I went to my appointment for a haircut with the woman who has cut my hair for a decade and told her I'd gotten a PM 3 days before. She said "Ohmigod, you've got to be kidding me! Three days ago they took out your heart and put in a pacemaker and you're in here getting your hair cut???" I had to work really hard to keep from laughing too hard, and I explained to her what PM surgery really is. And 3 months ago I had my PM surgically repositioned and my neice said "So you have to go through that whole business all over again of them cracking your ribcage open and going into your heart ???" Again, I was amazed. But really, there's so much I didn't know about PMs before I got mine, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised at the ignorance of the general population.
Thanks again for the laugh,
Cathryn
This is Great !!!

I think in the morning I'll get a cord and teel the kids I need to be pluged in... :) this is gona be a great one.
Also just because people don't know something does not make them ignorant of a thing. They simply don't know. I think its cute.
Don't get crass with the world. You've be given a real gift, that of time so enjoy it. Just becuas we're all hard wired now doesn't me we can't laugh. Thats why we really are here, to Laugh, to Cry, to Smile and burp
and yes of course fart.
So when you here "un-enlighted" folks say silly things just hand then end of your cord and ask if they can plug you in, for a bit........ This has me laughing so hard :)

Its awesome to know other kids out there that have pacemakers. I got my pacemaker when I was 17, im now 18. Thats not as young as you but I know lots of other kids with pacemakers like one of my best friends who is 12 also. I get to meet kids at Heart Camp, you should try and find a CHD camp near you!
