Tilt Table
Posted by arabella on 2008-07-02 15:35

Hi well at last had Tilt Table with GTN Provocation. First attempt the computer broke down. Ok stood for 20 mins absolutely fine no trouble then GTN and my heart rate went from a steady 88 to 200 and started to faint. It did feel exactly how I feel before I faint the doc who was there said that it looked to him as if I have not SSN or Hypersensitive Carotid but "Reactive and Reflective Tachycardia" Ummmmmm I have no idea what he meant but will see Cardiologist soon. On the way home I felt ok not brilliant but ok as I live so far from decent shop we decided to call in to get some things and as we were paying I fainted there was a nurse behind me and she grabbed me and did pulse and said it was easily over 200 I felt so ill but just wanted to get home has been 6 hours since test and my heart rate keeps shooting up and I feel heavy in the chest and a bit sick. I rang GP they said if I felt worse to go in to hospital but am feeling poorly but not really bad just aching now in left side and feel exhausted. Has any one heard of Reactive Tachy?

Thanks Bella

Hi Bella,

I don't have any answers for you, sorry, but please know that I'm here for support. Perhaps there is some information in the "search" part of this website.

I also private messaged you a few days ago, hope you received it.

Bella hi,
I've thought about what you wrote and I've been thru tilt test some years back. However I didn't pass out during the test but I did feel like passing out really often due to basically vt and junctional ectopic tachycardia. My syncope had always been due to my arrhythmias.
My own suspicion about what your EP mentioned I'd say it's probably the "fright and flight" rapid heart rate that's physiological; As you could see he's equating Reactive>fright and Reflective>flight. So perhaps it's what our body's natural defence would stand up to when it has to address a problem when overwhelmed by external culprit and it reacted by palpitating rapidly, esp. with the GTN. May not be sinister though.
Hope I made a bit of sense. Hope you feel better soon, otherwise, do see your dr real soon please.

Also I was told that my blood pressure is completely different in each arm. I really don't understand that I thought blood pressure was blood pressure and did not matter which arm they did it on.

Bunny so does that mean I am having panic attacks. I am not clear on this as it happens when I am just with friends, reading even laying down.

I am not a person who usually worries over things. I believe that everything eventually sorts itself out. Oh help am I just being stupid. Why would they have put in a dual pm last year and said I have 2nd Degree AV Node block and right bundle branch block. I am so confused.
