can anyone tell me if its ok to use a cordless (rechargeable)battery operated black and decker grass strimer 18v?

Using a battery powered grass trimmer is OK. In fact you can use any trimmer, no mater if it is battery powered, house current powered, or gasoline powered. The important thing to remember is always keep the motor at least 6 to 10 inches from your pacemaker. The 6 to 10 inch rule applies to all motors, electric or gasoline powered that may create an electromagnetic field. This also applies to all magnets.

However, if by accident you should get too close to something creating an electromagnetic field, you may notice a change in your heart beat. The change will probably be an irregular heart beat, and should that occur, get a few feet away from the source of the EMF and your heart beat will return to normal and no damage will have been inflicted on your pacemaker.

thanks smitty for your reply i am reassured now my husband bought one to make gardening easier for me as he is unable to do it himself and i was a little worried about using it i guess i have no excuses now to get out of the gardening!

 

I was told that as long as kept the battery/motor 12 inches away from my pacer, battery operated tools were ok.
