My 18 mos old had her pacer checked yesterday and the doc did some adjustments. He said everything looked good but that he had increased the voltage.
Last night she had a real rough night. Could it be because of the new settings?

Higher Voltage

PacerMom,
I can't say one way or the other of course. But I can tell you about 6 months after I got mine they increased the voltage and there were times that I had what I called very hard palpations or hard heart beats. It was something I had a hard time trying to describe, but it was uncomfortable. When I complained they lowered the voltage by 0.5 volts. I don't even know what the voltage is now, but I recall that 0.5 voltage because I thought a-half-of-a-volt, that is not going to help anything. I was wrong. It did the job and that was almost two years ago.
My best to your little girl.

Hello PacerMom,
All I can tell you is that when my voltage was increased at the first check after the implant... I suffered a horrible feeling on my throat that felt as if someone was nearly chocking me. Like my heart was in my throat. I called the doc and the settings were adjusted. I couldn't sleep either. I know there is a name for this condition, but i can't think of it.
good luck,
Pacergirl
That's atrial pacing...

isn't it? When they test your PM and turn up the atrial pacing, it fels like your heart is in your throat.
I understand your concern bing a father myself, but I seriously doubt that a PM can make one cough. It's probably coincidence.
