Laughter

Reading some of the messages here I see a lot of us (me included at times) are so down on ourselves because of what we went through and we let the negative feelings overcome us. It's hard not to that's for sure but I think we all gotta lighten up a little and put out more positive vibes for any new members here.

I met a little 4 year old girl last night that has had two open heart surgeries and now has to go back to the hospital and have a pacemaker installed. Her attitude was amazing!!!!!
She was laughing and happy as could be and her mother says even through the surgeries she was like that. Her Doctors say one of the major reasons she has come through all the surgeries so well, was her attitude and ability to laugh and play even though at times her life was in the balance and she was in severe pain.

What a lesson we can learn from her.

Children can be the best teachers on how to live life no matter what the circumstances are. They will laugh at what we adults think is not appropriate but if you really look at the situation they're laughing at? It was probably very appropriate to have a good belly laugh.

Laughter has great healing power!!! Let's all do more of it,

Magster

You've hit the nail on the head Magster - as it says in the Bible - Proverbs 17.22

"A merry heart doest good like a medicine but a broken spirit drieth the bones."

Thanks to our PMs and ICDs etc, we're blessed with merry hearts in every sense in this club...so, Carry On Laughing!

Children rarely know the problems that can/do occur and therefore are not burdened with concerns for the future or problems that could crop up.

From my experience, as long as their pain is controlled, they just want to go back to playing.

When my daughter got melanoma, preteen, she asked me if she was going to die.

I gave her the most honest answer that I could.....that we would get her the best doctors in the world, the best treatments available and that we all die at some point.

I did ask her to not focus on it, cause she might get hit by a car while crossing the road or have an accident on her bike if she focussed on the melanoma. She laughed at that prospect and she's still doing okay at 24.

We're all handed a deck of cards, sometimes all out of the blue and we have to play that deck we're given.

I'm struggling with this huge op coming up, my nerves are shot and it's very hard waiting.....I just want it behind me, to wake up and be told that everything is A-okay.
The reality might be much different but I will deal with it as it comes. After all, it's my deck of cards.

I'm down 10 lbs and my GP says I'll probably lose 30+ plus pounds.....says I won't be "chowing down" for a few weeks!!

The good news, he wants me on very heavy painkillers so that I can move around and be out walking within a month or so of the op.

He's not a big proponent of narcotics, so he must be expecting a lot of pain.....ewww, but I'm going to take every last one of whatever they offer!!

Keep the faith.........our pacemakers and ICDs are our lifesavers.

Children are luck, sometimes not knowing the future is blissful.

Forgot to say that I've had the movie channels put in and lots of extra cable channels.

I am planning on taking my hardcore pills, and laughing my way through every comedy or silly movie possible.

Even the bad ones. ;D

Laughter is the best medicine. Tell someone a joke, if it hurts to laugh, at least you've moved their innards around!

couldn't agree with you more although hard at times to think about laughter, but stick with it cause it works.
