I went in for an interrogation today. I have a dual chamber PM (since Jan 2007) and turns out my ventricular lead has completely dislodged itself and is just chilling there and blowing in the wind (moving every time blood flows through). This is the same lead that became infected about a year ago (Aug 20007) and was replaced a month later (Sep 2007)... So it has to be replaced again. Tomorrow. My doc isn't really concerned about it and says it'll most likely be an "in and out procedure" and I'll be home tomorrow night. Has anyone else had leads replaced and been home the same day? I know for my last one I had to stay a few nights, but that was after an infection. My doc is excellent at what he does and I trust him, but just wondering what others have experienced.
Also wondering... I have 6 scars and each have been cut into 3 times. Awesome, I know. Does anyone know if they can cut into them more or am I going to get another battle wound...
Just when I thought things were going well and that my final year of college was going to be fine... Ugh frustrating. Gotta keep my head up though- it could be worse.

On my 2nd PM replacement I had my single ventricle lead pulled out (in only 3 yrs) & a new one put in. As with 1st PM I stayed overnight & went home next day. Hope all goes well for you as it did for me. They also went in thru the same scar but it was only 2nd time so not sure about rest of your other question.
Good luck,
Janet

I also got an extended vacation when I got my first one, complements of an allergic reaction to the pain meds. I went home same day for all of my battery changes. I will need a lead replacement next time and was told to expect to stay overnight. They like to take an xray at 24 hrs to verify the leads are in place.
