Anyone Use a Coated PM?
Posted by bobad on 2008-09-27 11:48

3 attempts to keep a PM implanted have all ended in an inflamed incision area, appearing that tissue eroson is inevitable. Several bacterial cultures have all come back negative.

I called St. Jude this morning, and the tech said my Doc could order a "coated" generator.

Has anyone used a coated generator to prevent tissue inflammation/erosion , and did it help?

What type of material is the coating? PTFE (Teflon) perhaps?

@60bpm, is your pouch working OK? Any pain or inflammation, or is it too early to tell?

Many thanks,,, Bob A.

Hi Bob,
Good morning. I definitely feel a heck of alot better this time around. Although my site is very tender to the touch, it appears to be healing slowly but surely. My EP said it would take a bit longer to heal with the pouch, but hopefully I won't experience any more rejection symptoms.
So your doc is planning a fourth procedure? Wow, you've been through hell Bob. By the grace of God this will be your last one for a very long while. Take care, I'll continue to keep you in my prayers.

for you Diane! Hope the dacron pouch works out. I would be more than willing to go through a slow healing process than to go through multiple procedures.

I'm sitting here procrastinating checking into the hospital. My veins are a wreck from all the IV's, and it would be nice to heal up just a couple of more days before all the jabbing begins. I've spent 18 days total in hospital, mostly soaking up IV antibiotics. Oh well, maybe this will be the last procedure. My doc wants to implant this one in my abdomen, but that doesn't sound so great.

Best of health,,,
