Had pacemaker 3 years ago. Having flown yet. Is there anything to be aware of ? Thank you
No need to tell the security people you have one, just go through security like everyone else. They do not trigger either the normal security arches or the newer "imaging" booths, and your pacemaker will not be affected by them. However, always carry your pacemaker ID card. Avoid airlines with outdoor toilets.
The only thing to be aware of, and you'll probably never see it, is the wand style metal detectors. They shouldn't be used above the waist. Tell the security person and show your card if necessary. These are common at public events but are used, rarely, at airports too (particularly overseas) if all of the other scanners are down.
Avoid airlines with outdoor toilets.OUCH!!!
Andy. Your one in million.
You will be airborne. That's it. I hope you have a great trip and hopefully it's for something fun.
Yeah, a pandemic hit us and travel might be a different experience than before.
I still tell them I have a pacer, but I have had pacers for 34 years, and sometimes that gets me into a short/special line. Usually not. The machines wont hurt the device, but the guards are trained to assume that the wand and some of them can...so dont try to correct them that will just annoy them...
Bit of a late response, but I had flown 4 days after having my PM inserted with no issues.
Some mention to avoid... can you explain 🙏
You know you're wired when...
You take technology to heart.
Pacemakers are very reliable devices.
