How many leads do you have?

Hi, I am very curious in this group how many leads everyone has that is past 2 pacers, and how many got extractions.  Thanks so much.  Trying to determine my next steps and fact gathering.

I currently have 3 for a CRT upgrade.

My last device had one year left on the battery, but had a bad lead. The plan was to reuse one lead and extract/replace one. The DR ended up extracting both as they were entangled around each other and covered in scar tissue. They were there for over 10 years. The DR said it wasn't easy, but there were no complications. I think they have come a long way with lead extractions and techniques.

Can I ask where you had the extraction done and which doctor?  thanks for sharing

I see your profile says you are from Toronto. My surgery was done here in Boston, MA - Are you looking to travel?

Yes, I am and have started to research.

Two leads here, but ...

...apparently only one of them is currently in use. My pacemaker was inserted 9 years ago due to complete heart block as a result of surgical complication when my aortic valve was replaced. For the first 8 years both chambers were paced, but as the battery reached the final stages the said pacing of one of the chambers wasn't necessary and they turned it off to extend battery life.

I have had 3 leads since 2020 as I have a CRT-P pacemaker. In 2022 I was told that my RA and RV lead had to be replaced as they were failing. It was easier for the surgeon to extract them as they had only been in place for 2 years. (I live in Scotland so it's all done on the NHS)

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
