it's safe, but if it hurts don't do it. I'd wait at least 6 weeks so you can heal well.

I put a lot of pillows and cussons around me to lay comfortable and took a small, light and soft one in my arms on the left side. It also give me a feeling of protection this little pillow. For me it worked! Marijke.

Sleeping on left side

It is natural for the pacemaker/ICD to move a bit as we do various activities. It is located in a "pocket" under the skin that is larger than it is and muscles, bones, etc. put pressure on it. I stayed of mine until it didn't hurt to lay on that side. Putting some pillows around you to provide support is an excellent idea.

sleep on it

6 months post implant of my ICD I now sleep right on top of it. It seems fine and my 3 and 6 month check-ups were OK.

Give it a chance to heal up and then you can sleep on it. Once healed it moves around a lot less than it did at first.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
