pacemaker repositioning?

Hi! I received my PM 2 years ago. All is well, but I am feeling a little uncomfortable...I hiked the Grand Canyon in May, and carried a 30 pound pack on my back that pressed upon my upper chest. I felt like my PM had moved from its originall position. I have started to work out, using machines for the upper body at the gym. I feel like the PM has moved even more. I don't think the leads have been damaged - I still feel good. I received the PM due to 3rd degree heart block. I am just more aware of the PM now, and no, I'm not a "twiddler". Thanks for anything you can share with me.

My surgeon told me the extreme story of a woman whose pacemaker 'migrated' south to the top of her diaphragm!!! I'm no expert on this but if this is how you are feeling then it's far better to be safe than sorry. Get it checked over and it may be that it's not moved, or that it has moved, but doesn't require intervention. Either way if you're working out on your upper body in the gym, you need the peace of mind that you can do so safely. Hope it's all ok for you.

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
