Ivabradine

My doctor suggested trying this medication for my tachycardias, but she says that it's not available or approved in the US, only in Europe. I live in Puerto Rico. Have any of you taken it or can you tell me how can I get it? I've tried to contact her but she hasn't answered (she gave me the suggestion through e-mail).

Thanks.

sinus tachycardia

Hi,

Ivabradine (Procoralan) is for tachycardia originating in the sinus node only. The only effect it has is that it slows the sinus node down. Don't know what kind of tachycardia you have.

Maybe you could try to get it in an international pharmacy. I remember that when I was considering starting Dronedarone but it wasn't approved in Germany, yet, I could have nevertheless ordered it via int. pharmacy with a prescription from my doc. But I would have had to pay for it myself, no German insurances covers a medication that hasn't been approved here.

Best wishes
Inga

or is it Ibavradine?

I'm not sure if they are both the same thing!

Canadian mail order pharmacy

My husband uses northwestpharmacy.com for his Lipitor supply (he takes 80 mg per day so it's very expensive). It's a better deal there (Canadian) because Lipitor hasn't gone generic yet (at least here in the US), but other drugs that have gone generic are a better deal here through the local pharmacy. His last Lipitor shipment came from Germany (free shipping if over a certain amount), so drugs that you can't find here may be available this way.
