Go with Vitamin E

I'm with TraceyE. I've had my pm almsot 3 years now, and the scar is very light thanks to the Vitamin E cream. I'm not very vain about my scar, but my EP bugs me about trying to lighten it...so, to placate him I used Vitamin E. It works even after all this time! (And no attacking my EP here, folks...we have a super great relationship and it's all in jest!)

I did try the Mederma cream, too, because my EP recommended it. Bad idea. At least for me. I had an allergic reaction to it. It made my pm site all bumpy and red for a few days. Yuck.

I suggest going natural on this one.

Safeway brand

I actually tried the Safeway brand, which appeared to be a less expensive, generic brand of Mederma, with the same ingredients. I ended up taking it back because my incision became a bit red and tingling. They gave me my money back. I'm not putting anything on my incision now, and it's healing really well, so for the moment, I'm letting nature take its course :-)

Vitamin E worked better

I tried both Mederma and Vitamin E. The Vitamin E oil worked best for me.

Take care!

No Vitamin for me!

by muirghe - 2009-06-02 09:06:04

I have just healed up from a nasty allergic reaction to Vitamin E oil. My entire chest and neck were covered in an allergic rash. The dermatologist poo-poo'd my even calling the pm incision a scar! She is right in a way...it is like badge of bravery for having to go through such an ordeal. I won't be using anything else on my scar.
