AED's

Ok I have a question I work in a place we have AED's everywhere and everyone is trained to use them. But we were never told what to do if some one has a pacemaker. Does anyone know if there is something different you need to do? Its funny the things you think about after getting an implant.

Just dont place the AED directly over the pacer. Just put it a little bit to side, if it should be on the side where the patches go. Thats it then proceed to analyze like normal.

I work in Control for the ambulance service in the UK, and recently my boyfriend had a training course where they had a Resusci Annie with a pacemaker scar, and they placed that pad a lot lower down and to the side. Check with your trainer though, every Service (in the UK at least) has a different policy.

I just had this miracle implanted two weeks ago and I’m feeling better.
