I had a pacemaker put in on th 8th of May. I had bad pain at the site for two days this past weekend. I also had some shocks that scared me. I felt like somebody was tapping me for about 20-25 seconds. It seemed like forever. I lifted my shirt up and you could see my chest pumping? Any one else have this sensation. It happened 3 times today.

when i got my pm i experienced the same exact thing, not the pain but the thumps and i new when mine was gonna happen before hand because i would get this out of breath feeling. When i went to my six week check up with my doc i told him about it and he changed my settings and it worked, i don't feel the pm beating my heart at all anymore. They sent you home with a standerd setting when you go back for your check up let them know then they will customize it just for you.

I have a Medtronic Adapta pacemaker installed on 5/28. Shorty (maybe 2 weeks) after installation, while tossing in bed half asleep, I thought I felt an electrical shock that seemed to go from the pacemaker site all the way to my chest (heart area). Since I was half asleep, I really don't know if it happened or I imagined it happened. Similarly, several nights ago I was using a table saw (I later found to be not properly grounded) and as I moved closer to the saw, I thought I felt my shirt actually flapping in the area of the pacemaker. I moved back from the saw and I no longer felt this phenomena. Both times I was left with the feeling "did that really happen". Any comments? I have a checkup scheduled for 9/9 and will discuss with my cardio team.

Chest thumping

If it happens again contact your cardiologist. You may have a lead that has come loose. Without a proper connection to your heart the current can pace the nearest muscle. This is often your diaphragm. They can take an x-ray that shows the leads. An interrogation of the pacemaker should also show a lead problem.
