constant pain

I have had my pm/dif since march 2009. I have been in pain everyday since. My doctors say i may have nerve damage where the device was put. I can't lift my arms for very all. It takes me for ever to sort thru my closet, because it hurts my arms to sort through the hangers. I have sharp pain thru out the day, daily. My doctors say they don't want to have to reposition the device, because I could get an infection. They said I could see a plastic surgeon, because the incision kilod. Also my bp drops very low throught the day, and I feel like i am about to pass out, but my doctors say they want my pressure to stay that low. I can't function well. anyone else feels like this

blood pressure

My Cardio says he wants my BP as low as it can be without me feeling dizzy when I stand up. It is usually around 90 over 60. I seem to get along OK with it that way. Sometimes if I have been laying back in the recliner and jump up real fast I will feel a little lightheaded, so I try not to do that. Of course at my age (77) I never do anything too fast. I have a weak heart and a 3 wire Bi/Ven in sync Pace Maker, which was just replaced the 21st of OCT. I just came back from 1 1 and 1/4 mile walk, so doing OK for an old codger.

constant pain

Constant pain in my opinion is unacceptable. Please go get a 2nd opinion.

When a doctor says "may have" nerve damage, he's guessing. You really need another opinion.

My pacermaker moved into my armpit 2 months after I first got it and I had it repositioned and I have no pain any more.

Yes, one can have nerve damage, but .....nerve pain shouldn't be giving you sharp pain.

Pain is the only way your body can tell you something isn't right.

Please, go for another opinion.

another opinion?

Have you gone to another dr for a second opinion? I've never heard of trying to keep bp so low you're ready to pass out. Did they say why?

They usually try to wait 6-12 months to see if it settles down on its own before doing a reposition but if you're in that much pain and unable to function in your daily activities, it's time to think about doing it. If your dr isn't listening, I'd be finding another dr.

BP drop/pass out

by janicef - 2009-11-18 07:11:45

Hi- I recently had my second pacer replaced in Sept., few days later every time I raised my arm, (shoulder height) I would feel as thou my bp dropped and the feeling of passing out. I called Dr's office several times with symptoms & told "everything OK", BUT IT WASN'T , one of my leads had a split in it, so, I was taken in for emergency surgery for new lead. If these feelings continue - please, don't let it go, it could be your lead, good luck to you, Janice (my birthdate on bio says: 2009, please know that is incorrect!

You know you're wired when...

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
