High Powered Elevator!

Yikes! We just returned from an outing to the Underground Salt Mines in Hutchinson, Kansas. It was awesome, however not without a few dizzy minutes on my part.

As we entered the Visitor Center, bought our tickets and checked out the information I noticed a sign outside the "ready" room. It simply stated that if you have a pacemaker please tell the attendant. The mines are accessed through a very powerful elevator. An extremely high powered cable operates the elevator and apparently effects pacemakers. I was the last person on the elevator and the first person on. I was not allowed to touch anything on the elevator, the walls or the door. It takes 90 seconds to travel the 650 feet down to the mine floor. My head went to spinning, my legs went to rubber. I have no idea if it was the pacemaker or the elevator. But I could hardly walk off once the door opened. Tim had to help hold me up. I recovered in about 3 min. or so. It was odd. Really odd. We had a great time, we spent 3 hours checking everything out. It was really cool. 68 degrees! So nice after driving there in 98 degree weather. I experienced the same thing on the return trip. Dizzy, weak feeling, but I recovered faster.

My question is; has anyone else had any trouble with high powered elevators? I was warned before we went entered, but I really didn't believe I would be effected.

Hope you all are having a good summer. Take care,
Pacergirl

Life does not stop with a pacemaker, even though it caught me off guard.
