verapamil----FAIL!!!!

So I tried off of metoprolol for 2 weeks with transition to verapamil. Well I guess I can add this to the very long list of FAILED medications. Didnt control my heart rate, didnt control my blood pressure. You know I have been doing the "weight watching" for 3 weeks now and have actually gained weight the past two weeks which makes no sense whatsoever considering what I have been eating. Well I believe I got my answer today. I woke up today with swelling in the feet and my eyes felt like golf balls. I guess I didnt really pay attention to it until it was glaringly obvious today. I sure hope the fluid comes off on its own, I should have asked for a couple days of diuretics. So heres to hoping life gets MUCH skinny and happier back on metoprolol. I guess I will just have to deal with the fatigue side effect. If I dont report a weight loss next week, people better watch out because I might just start throwing things!!!!

Not sure how long you were on the Metoprool, but it has taken me 5 months to actually get used to it. I take it AM & PM & about 45 min after taking, I just wanted to sleep.
That has finally passed!!!
Good luck, Liz

Pete, Ramapril is an ACE inhibitor while verapamil is a calcium channel blocker. The only thing they have in common is they are both heart medications. I have used verapamil with some success but my best results came with Cardizem, also a calcium channel blocker, while Ramapril was a really a bad actor for me. Bill

HATE RAMAPRIL

Ramapril caused me intense unbearable stomach pain- so bad I went straight back into hospital. Came off it. Added it to my list of failures. Cheers Peter

cardizem

I had OUTRAGEOUS headaches from cardizem. I tried low dose orally to beging with and noticed them so I came off of it. When I had to do a "drug holiday" for my EP study they had to put me on a IV drip of it and that was AWEFUL!!!!!!! Talk about wanting to cut your head off! I guess I will just stick with my Toprol and be happy with it.

Stress from worrying about your BP, stress about the metoprolol meds and stress of weight gain is going to make you worse. Take some deep breaths, think pretty thoughts and DE-stress ~

Hang in there ~ you are on the 'losing side' of your weight loss.

Please don't throw things our way ~ ha-ha.
