New Member

Hi,
I am new to this club. I have had a pacemaker since 2005 and it is doing a good job. I was on Amiodorone for a while and that destroyed my thyroid gland. Has any one else had that problem?

Now I am in AFib almost all of the time. Suggestions?
Thanks for any help.

Hi sorry i cant help with your question about the medication or thyroid but i can say hello to you and tell you that there is always someone on here who can help.

I'm in Afib a couple of times a day, think its been happening for years and i thought it was the menapause. This may be completely psychological but i find if i have a small glass of red wine and a piece of dark chocolate it seems to improve!!!

Take care HH

I have been taking Amiodorone since I had my ICD about a year ago. I also take Ramapril/Simvastatin and Bisoprolol. My GP checks my blood every few months and my liver enzymes are high but not (apparently) dangerous. I do feel a bit light headed at times but as far as I know, appart from a bit of a cough on/off I am doing okay. What happened when you went out in the sun when you were on Amiodorone? I know you must not lie in the sun, but I am going on holiday to a hot country this year and am wondering how I shall cope. Is a high factor sun screen enough or do you have to cover up? Love to hear how you managed or if you have any advice.

Thanks
