first pm - lead pierced through heart!

Hello im new!

I was fitted with a medtronic pacemaker two weeks ago and the cardio pierced my heart wall resulting in me getting electric shocks through my chest.

I had second corrective surgery a week later and am now home recovering after the wire was retrieved and replaced. Anyone else experienced this?

Id also be keen for any advice about when i can start exercising because im rather scared to move at all! I still sleep like a plank at night on my back - when can i sleep on the side of the pacemaker?

Sleeping on PM side

The only real issue with the pacer is raising your arm above shoulder level, or possibly sudden movements. So you can sleep on that side as soon as it is comfortable to do it.

I am new also, the same thing happened to me. The ventricle lead pierced through my hear wall and lodged into my sternum, pacing my chest wall muscles- it was miserable. They retracted the lead and secured it in a different location. So far so good, the concern is the hole in my heart. I am currently contacting my doctors for more information on how long the heart needs to heal before I can be active again; when I learn more I will post.
Good Luck and here's to a better life!

You know you're wired when...

You can finally prove that you have a heart.
