Pacemaker shorting out??

I have recently had a problem--possibly caused by a short in the line or unit of my St. Jude pacemaker. I have tingling and "paralyzing" feelings on my skin surface on my left side back shoulder area, and my left neck and under ear. I do have a problem with my cervical vertebrae from time to time on C-1 and C-2. However, if I have the skin feelings, and if I put my magnet up to the pacemaker (approved) for 30-45 seconds, the tingling feelings go away. I can also get rid of the feelings if I move my neck and stretch around alot. My pacemaker is on my left side in the front above the deltoid muscle.

Is it possible I have a little electrical short coming from the Pacemaker body?

Looking for input. I have an appointment at the Veteran's Hospital on the 17th, so I will bring it up then, but if you have or have heard of such a thing, let me know.

The pacemaker may have reverted to unipolar mode for some reason. In this mode the pacing current returns to the pacer through your body and can cause minor electrical symptoms.

Hey Electric Frank!!

Your information makes perfect sense. I am printing out your comment, and taking it to the Vet's Hospital next week!!

How do you know so much? Very curious, as I appreciate knowledgeable persons, and how they got that way.

Best International Regards,

Thanks! I have been curious since a child. I just can't leave something alone until I understand it. somewhere along the line I also caught on that making mistakes is one of the best ways of learning. The feedback I get on this site really helps.

After I got my pilots license in the 50's my flight instructor told me that I was one of the few people that he didn't have to teach to fly. All he had to do was keep me from killing myself while I learned from my mistakes!

I'll be interested in hearing how it comes out at the VA Hospital. There are several things that can cause tingling. I'm leaving on a trip on the 18th and may not have good access to the internet for 3 weeks.
