New on the site!

Hello everyone. I am new to the site and wanted to ask a question and introduce myself.

I am going in my 7th year with my first ICD. It was implanted at 17 and was wondering if there was anyone else at a young age with an ICD and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy on the site? I had an ablation done and it was not until after the ablation that I started to have chest pains, racy heart, and light headedness and then they put in the ICD. Just wanted to see what everyone else had to say!!!!

I'm sorry you've had a rough time. It's tough to be young with heart health issues, especially with cardiomyopathy.
I was just wondering if you live in the USA. Although I'm aware that every one is different, I've had a racy heart all my life and even at 33, my doctor's waited to the very last minute to implant me with my pacemaker.

Glad you found this site. Regardless of age, I've found that with heart conditions it doesn't matter what age you are- you'll be able to relate with someone here with similar heart issues. There are, however, tons of young people here in their 20's.

Welcome,
Angelie

Greetings!

Hello fellow icd'er, I for one have an icd due to I was born with long qt syndrome, I was diagnosed at age 17 in 2004, and just last July my icd will make it's 1st birthday with me =) I am 22 now and at times I feel down others I feel better,I still get some anxiety but I have my days & I know I have my little insurance right close to my heart... Hope all is well at your end.

You know you're wired when...

You have a T-shirt that reads “Wired4Sound”.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
