UK

Heyy,

Was just wondering how many, if there are any, people there are who are from the UK? Anyone really but just wondered if there were any children or young adults my age who live locally to me? I am from Nottingham and I'm 15

Thanks,
SianXx

Lotti here.
Had my PM put in at Glenfield, Nottingham. 3 1/2 years ago at age 37. I live in Uttoxeter.
I had mine put in due to complications during heart surgery. I am looking for work.
I love Tae Kwon Do...Grading in 2 weeks Agh!!!

We are all not that far apart (apart from Glasgow of course!) Coffee morning perhaps?

Thanks Julie, sorry to hear you have had to give up work!

I also want to add to my orginal post that to the friends I have made my age, Uvagerswin(if thats how you spell it, (Sydney), and Pacemakerkid (Abby) , I do not want to seem ungrateful for our chats, I really am grateful! I just reread my comment and thought I would mention this. I am just curious as I have not yet seen anyone from the UK.

Hi Sian,
I am a long way from your age (49) but I live quite close to you in Lincolnshire, in a village not far from Sleaford. I often go to Nottingham for shopping trips. I have only had my pacemaker for 9 weeks and I am still coming to terms with the fact that I need it. I am sorry that I am not nearer to your age as I know how important it is to have someone to talk to. I actually don't know anyone personally who has a pacemaker and I think it is quite difficult for "non-pacemaker people" to understand the worries we have. I have been a primary school teacher for over 20 years (teaching children in Reception, and Key stage one) but gave up working last year due to extreme tiredness.
This site has been really helpful for finding out information and it makes you feel that you are not alone. I hope that you can get in touch with "pacers" of your own age but if you ever feel you need to "talk" please get in touch.

Best wishes, Julie

Hi Sian - I'm 46 and live in East Yorkshire. I've had my pacemaker for 4 years for Post ablation heart block after years of SVT's. I can honestly say that I've never felt better, and am lucky that I don't need to take any medication.

I have found this site brilliant in giving me more information about living with a pacemaker, and although I don't sign in everyday, I always log on and read the latest. As others have said - although I'm not your age - pls feel free to give us all a shout from time to time!! (We're all young at heart!!!).

Hello.
I don't have a pacemaker but my son does. He is 10. He also doesn't know anyone with a pacemaker..
He attends Bristol Childrens Hospital who were trying to set up a support group but this is not possible because of the hospital covers Devon, Cornwall and South Wales.
The hospital has sent through a few web sites to look at one is www.Meet@TeenHeart.uk. I have not looked at this site yet.
You could also contact your hospital to see if they could help you.
I hope you found this useful.
Good luck

Thanks

Hello all, I am a very old person and shouldn't be doing this at all but I would like to know if it's OK to use electrical equipment for example a garden strimmer. I'm concerned about the vibration. Just moved house and gardening is a passion. I had a pacemaker fitted in August. I was told there was a waiting list of two years when I came here to France and so had to have dramatic experiences before they would look at me. In fact there are no doctors here. It's a serious problem as they don't take new patients. Just wondering what it's like in the UK . Regards Ruby
