The really ugly truth about dioxin

by lenora - 2009-11-03 10:11:00

Wellll....you do mean the cardiac drug digoxin and not the chemical toxin dioxin, right?? Bet none of us take that! Before I got my pacemaker I went through every antiarrhythmic known to man including the demon drug amiodarone to get afib under control. Nothing worked. After the pacemaker I still had to be cardioverted twice, then my cardiologistEP died. His partner took me over and put me on digoxin and it helps some. I still have the afib but I don't pass out anymore. I take 3 times the normal dose though--0.75 mg. Digoxin is one of the oldest cardiac drugs around and the cheapest.
I feel okay on it but once in a while the afib takes over and I pop some magnesium with it.

Digoxin

D helped me awhile but later had a pacemaker.

Something to think about. My triglycerides went from
150 to 350 while I was taking this & Tikosyn. I don't know
if there is a connection but I stopped both about 2 months
ago. Now my tri... measure 150 . will get checked again
in 2 months. Then I may have a better idea if the meds
made my tri.. go up. So just in case your tri... go up in
your next blood work, this may be why. I was taking 25MG of D

Too Many Meds

I still take 0.25 mg of digoxin and 50mg of Toprol XL. I was hoping to get off of the digoxin because it seems to speed up my heart rate. The toprol controls the irregularities. So if these pacemakers are suppose to do the job natural pm's do then why do we still have to take meds for afib and svts. On top of these I also take tricor, avapro and vytorin . Plus being a diabetic I take insulin and actoplus. I've only had my pm since August, and only within the last couple of weeks have begun to feel better. About once a day I feel it kick in and then of course at midnight it downloads and I wake up to that. Hopefully this Friday's visit with the tech will eleviate some of that.

Sorry guys, it is DIGOXIN!

I hope I spelled that right! I have been taking this for two months now and it helps a little. I am more tired on it but I guess that is expected. Anyone else on this drug?

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
